Client: Altnagelvin Hospital
GB Electrics were contracted by Altnagelvin Trust to remove Asbestos lagging from service tunnels beneath the hospital. The removal process was made more difficult due to high pressure steam pipes which remained in use throughout the duration. These steam pipes operated at 180 degrees producing tunnel temperatures in excess of 100 degrees.
This project had high input from Health and Saftey Executive due to extreme temperatures which would have resulted in heat stroke or severe burns.
To counteract the extreme temperatures cold air was introduced from outside through a specifically designed ducting system. |
